Handicap

LETTER TO MEMBERS FOR THE NEW HANDICAPPING SERVICE

Dear Binhai Members
We all know how important it is to the enjoyment of the game that each one of us has a handicap that is a true reflection of our golfing ability. So, we are pleased to announce that our club has just introduced a new handicap service for all members, which follows the highly successful system used by the United States Golf Association. This system has been adopted by the United States Golf Association and will be provided for all members of Binhai Golf Club from Apr 1st.

The United States Golf Association bases their handicapping on the following principles:
  1. Golf is a game based on total honesty and integrity of the individual.
  2. At every hole in every round at any course, the golfer will always try to make the best score that he can.
  3. Every time a golfer plays a round of golf, whether it be in a friendly game or in a competition, he / she will submit his / her completed scorecard to the club.
  4. Freak high scores are misleading as to a golfer's normal ability. Therefore, calculation is made from the best scores submitted for a given number of rounds, ideally the best 10 of the golfer's last 20 rounds.
  5. Any golfer's scoring record should be available for any other golfer to see.
  6. Should a golfer play a round and not submit a score, then the handicap committee can submit a penalty round which will normally equal the best round of the last 20 the golfer has played.

How Does It Work:
  1. Each golfer is given a handicap index based on the scores submitted.
  2. The golfer will take this handicap index with him to his own golf course or any other golf course whenever he intends to play. Each golf course will have on display a Course Handicap Conversion Chart for each set of tees, which allows easy conversion of the handicap index to the golfers’ handicap for that particular course. This is the handicap that would be used for competitions and informal games on that particular course.

How To Get Your Handicap Index:
  1. Every time you play a round, at our club or elsewhere, fill out your score on your scorecard (include tees played and the date) and get your partner to sign it. Then place it in the scorecard box located in the clubhouse Locker Room, or submit to your handicap secretary at the starter.
  2. After 5 scores have been received from you, we will then calculate your handicap index.
  3. Keep submitting your scores each time you play so that we can update your handicap index on the 1st day of each month.
  4. All handicaps will be updated at www.binhaigolf.com every month.

How and Where to get a written Handicap in the club:
  1. Fill out “Binhai Golf Handicap Update request” Form which you can find at Club Front Desk or www.binhaigolf.com
  2. Our Handicap Secretory will make a updated Handicap Index Label for you within 3 working day.
  3. You may pick up your Handicap Index Label at Club Front Desk.

How To Get Your Handicap Card:
Binhai Golf Club will give every member a handicap Card since joined our membership.
